Irene started her career in marketing. This has proven to be a skill well turned to community development. With roles with several organisations over many years, Irene's understanding and knowledge of governance, management, fundraising and community have become extensive.  Irene worked on a number of high profile projects in the Clutha District before moving to Dunedin to lead the amazingly successful Chair in Neurosurgery campaign in Dunedin in 2011. Since then she has worked mostly behind the scenes, supporting and guiding not for profit projects all over NZ. Irene has also spent time working with rural communities in Canada.

Irene also commits many hours to volunteer work and has extensive experience and knowledge of not for profit boards and governance.  Currently, she has been leading the Mosgiel Pool Project as Chair of the Taieri Community Facilities Trust
